Wentworth-Nord (Montfort), Quebec, Canada – It is with profound shock and sadness that the family of Brenda Ruth Thompson-Wadey announces her passing. Brenda died unexpectedly and suddenly in her sleep at home early on the morning of December 22, 2019.

Beloved wife, soulmate, friend and partner for more than 49 years to Brock Wadey. Devoted mother of Monica Gannon and Nicholas Wadey. Dedicated grandmother and co-mother of Elina Wadey. Proud and thankful grandmother of Benjamin and Elsie Gannon. Fond mother-in-law of Richard Gannon. Companion and caregiver of Ruby Tuesday. Dear sister to Glenn Thompson and family. Loving niece to Lee Kellett and family. Supportive Mama B to Denise. Cherished friend to cousins and their families, son-in-law’s parents Christine and Mike Gannon and their family, numerous friends of Monica and Nicholas, and countless friends from Brenda’s childhood, l’École des Beaux-arts de Montréal, Montfort community, Sugar Creek Estates, Laurentian Quilters’ Guild, HAGS (Hand Appliqué Girls Society), Block Of The Week, England, Wales, Germany, Scotland former clients and work colleagues, and many more lives that Brenda touched in her lifetime. Daughter of the late Ethel Kellett-Thompson and Fred (Robert) Thompson. Daughter-in-law of the late Florence Liddell-Wadey and Eugene Wadey.

The family takes comfort in knowing that Brenda did not suffer. She devoted her life to making her family, and homes and gardens in Montfort and Florida, beautiful. We see and feel Brenda every day in the countless gifts, wisdom and insights that she shared and gave us. Spending time with her family, maintaining family traditions, and being helpful and one-of-a-kind are her hallmarks. She filled our lives and homes, and those of our children with so many wonderful, loving and thoughtful memories.

Brenda was blessed with so many talents and interests – artist, photographer, hair stylist, multi-faceted designer, color and texture coordinator, seamstress, craftswoman most notably in fabrics and quilting, planner, developer, renovator, interior decorator, educator, traveller, analyzer, improver, advisor, coach and mentor. Her athletic interests and abilities included swimming, waterskiing, downhill and cross-country skiing, karate, skating, biking, hiking, paddling, horseback riding and snowshoeing.

Brenda was ever mindful of environmental issues, most notably against plastic, protection of air, water, plants, wildlife, bees, butterflies, birds (especially hummingbirds) and was community-minded.

Beautiful, classy, quick-thinking, secure-in-herself and humorous, Brenda was loving, caring, joyful and fun to be with.

We feel the serenity and take comfort in knowing that Brenda is very much with us, continually guiding, supporting and encouraging us with her honourable values, steadfast attitude and deep-rooted beliefs. Brenda consistently put others before herself and this is how she is most remembered – always caring, fair, reasonable and quick to help.

Following her heart attack in 1994, Brenda conscientiously followed through with her decision to participate in the MUHC – Royal Victoria Cardiovascular Risk Management Program, by meeting twice per year with Doctor Allan Sniderman and staff. Donations to the MUHC (McGill University Health Center), Division of Cardiology will be appreciated (https://muhcf.akaraisin.com/ui/dreambigcardio).
