Doreen SMYTH (Adams)
In loving memory of Doreen Smyth (Adams)
Doreen Smyth, a woman of remarkable courage and strength, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend – passed away at the CHSLD Desjardins in St. Sauveur on July 2, 2026 at the age of 93 after a lengthily illness, with her daughter Heather by her side. Doreen (Nanny Doe) lived a life full of warmth and compassion that touched everyone she met.
She was born February 28, 1933 in Montreal, the only child of Mable and Albert Adams, immigrants from Belfast, Northern Ireland and married Thomas Smyth on June 12, 1954. She leaves behind her two loving daughters, Heather (Hal), grandson Tyler (Olivia) and Cynthia (Derek) grandchildren Taylor (Francette) and Courtney, and her adored great-grandchildren Taliya and Tanisha (Taylor and Francette).
Her enormous heart was open to all. She was sympathetic to the suffering of animals and over the years rescued many dogs, cats, and even a wild bird.
Doreen was beautiful and was known for her spectacular sense of style. She could put together stunning outfits with ease. In addition, she loved to cook and entertain. Her door was always open and it was impossible for guests to leave without a bite to eat which always resulted in a huge spread of delicacies. She loved to travel and no matter where Doreen and Tom traveled, the party followed them.
Doreen’s spirit, compassion, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and numerous friends.
The family wishes to thank the exceptional and kind staff at the CHSLD Desjardins in St. Sauveur for their compassionate care and support.
We grieve Doreen’s passing, but she is now free of pain and suffering and in God’s hands.
Service will be held Saturday, July 25th, at St. Francis of the Birds Church, 94 Avenue St. Denis, St. Sauveur J0R 1R4 at 11:00 AM followed by the burial at St. Francis of the Birds Cemetery, Route 364, St. Sauveur then a return to the Church Hall for a celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or animal shelter of your choice or the Alzheimer’s Society.
