Otto HILZ

Décédé le 18 Décembre 2020 à l'âge de 91 ans
Sainte-Sophie

Otto Hilz, 91, of St. Sophie, died December 18th, 2020 at St. Jerome Hospital.

He was born on May 30th, 1929 to Elisabeth Hauser and Otto Hilz in Waldshut, Germany.

Otto attended agricultural college in Germany before deciding to make the big leap in coming to Canada in July, 1953.

He married his beloved, Bernice Radzick on June 17th, 1961. They were married for 59 years till her passing in July, 2020. Inseparable throughout their marriage, they loved travelling during their earlier years and would always garden and work on the farm throughout their whole life together.

He was an avid gardener and put his agricultural skills to work growing a variety of plants and vegetables that would be used in the many meals and feasts that the family enjoyed together on the farm during family gatherings.

Otto was a strong and stoic man, an example to all of what determination and dedication to family meant, always there when we needed him.

Otto is survived by his sister Anneliese and his brother Alfred of Long Island, N.Y. as well as his sister Margret of Germany. He was preceded in death by his brothers Rudolf and Bernhard.

He will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Alice, nephews Terry and Steven (Patricia), great nieces Alexandra and Meaghan (Andrew) and many members of his extended family.

Visitation will be January 9th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at

Maison Trudel, 801 boul. des Laurentides in St. Antoine.

There will be a liturgical celebration at the funeral home that same afternoon. A burial ceremony will be held at a later date at St. Sophie Church cemetery in St. Sophie.

Donations may be made in Otto’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
